OUR STORY
ZAWI
Zawi was founded by Waleed Asadi, a second-generation Palestinian-American. Inspired by the Gazan flavors of his mother's cooking, he wanted to make sure he never lost the flavors of home and learned how to create his precious family recipes.
At the core of every recipe are the spices, they are the heart and soul of every dish and bring so much life to the plate. His goal is to share the warmth and comfort of home with the world and thus Zawi was born.
OUR ROOTS
My parents left for the United States in the '80s in pursuit of making a better life for their family - you know the American Dream. With being far from home, food & community was the pillar of connecting us to our roots and preserving our Palestinian Culture. My Dad is from a town in Northern Palestine called Safad, and my Mom is from the coastal city of Gaza. My mom was the primary cook who learned from her mother before her. A lot of the dishes I cherish and ate growing up are recipes from all over Palestine and the Levant as a whole.
